Since neither sunrise or sunset line up perfectly here, this is one spot we would say is better during the day. Mid to late morning would be best as the sun lights up the road and Mt Taranaki, and chances are it’s more likely to be visible (not covered in cloud) in the morning compared to the afternoon.

Although we’ve never done this, we believe a clear Winter day would be awesome as you could get Mt Taranaki covered in snow.

Keep an eye on Mt Taranaki while you’re in the area and schedule this stop in whenever you see it’s not blocked by cloud!

Stand as far back as possible and use a zoom lens to make Mt Taranaki appear as dominating as it is.

Experiment taking shots at different heights to create nice leading lines with the road markings. Having your camera close to the ground and shooting portrait orientation can give a cool feel to the shot.
